1. Eat a Rainbow of Vegetables Every Day
The first step to boosting your immunity is by eating a variety of colorful vegetables every day. Why? Because the colors of these veggies represent different nutrients, antioxidants, and vitamins that your body needs to function at its best.
While fruits are also great, I recommend focusing on vegetables since they’re lower in sugar and pack a bigger punch in terms of nutrition. Think bright greens, reds, yellows, and purples—each color brings its own unique benefits to the table.
2. Stay Hydrated and Add Electrolytes
You’ve probably heard that hydration is important, but did you know that most people are chronically dehydrated? Around 60% of us are dehydrated on a regular basis, and that’s a problem for your immune system.
For your body to function properly, including sending immune cells where they need to go, you need water. So make sure you’re drinking at least half your body weight in ounces of water each day. Adding electrolytes to your water can help ensure your body is absorbing it properly, and it keeps your immune system in top shape.
3. Prioritize Sleep for Optimal Health
One of the easiest yet most powerful things you can do to boost your immunity is sleep. When we sleep, our body heals, resets, and strengthens itself. You want to aim for 7-8 hours of sleep each night to give your immune system the rest it needs.
And it’s not just adults who need quality sleep—teens and kids need 10 hours a night. Their bodies and brains are still developing, and sleep plays a crucial role in regulating hormones, blood sugar, and immune function.
Take Control of Your Immunity
Instead of constantly battling every cold or flu that comes your way, focus on strengthening your immune system so it can handle whatever comes up. By eating a variety of colorful vegetables, staying hydrated, and getting enough sleep, you’ll be supporting your body’s natural defenses and setting yourself up for a healthier holiday season.
Make these practices a priority, and you’ll feel the difference.
