How to get the best health insurance you never even knew existed

For many of us, there is disappointment in the healthcare system. Either they don’t know how to solve your issues, or they tell you it’s in your head. And the rest of us who actually like our doctors, may be frustrated because the framework that they are allowed to work in, is limiting and can’t give us the solutions we seek. I talk to a lot of people who have the belief that if it doesn’t seem solvable, it isn’t.

I will tell you that is just not the case. For many years I have been trying to think of a word that redefines what it means to be healthy. In our healthcare system, we wait until breakdown happens and then we try to fix it. If it were me, I would much rather prevent cancer, then take a test every few years to see if I have it and then go through horrific treatments that make me feel even worse only to hope that I come out okay on the other end.

We live in a soup of  toxic chemicals – building products, glues in our carpets, asbestos in our walls, EMF (electromagnetic frequency) coming from our phones, cell towers and computers, pesticides in our food and fluoride and chloramine in our water. I don’t mean to depress you, but I think you get the point.

We are human. We were not designed to live in this upside down world. We were designed to eat whole foods, chemical-free. Drink clean water. Be connected to nature – the earth and the sun. Rest. Move. Connect with real people, not screens. All of these things add up to one thing – health. It’s inevitable. Yes, there are genetics at play, but not nearly as much as is commonly thought. There is something called epigenetics, which is the ability to turn on and off genes depending on things like food choices, stress, exercise and many other lifestyle factors. We are not slaves to our genes. Gene expression – meaning the ones that are influencing our health are largely determined by nurture. It is estimated that as little as 5% of our absolute health outcomes are determined by our genetic make-up.

This allow YOU, to largely determine the outcome of your health. And the journey you take as you age can be largely determined by YOU. Whether you have pain or not, whether you develop cancer or not, whether you have heart disease or not. This might sound like a crazy proclamation, but if you know what really makes your body thrive and you focus on that – your outcomes and journey will be vastly different that if your focus is on treating disease.

So what is the best insurance you never even knew existed? Prevention. And it’s not tangible because you aren’t fixing anything. It may start out that way if you are switching from the disease model to the wellness model. But once you focus on wellness that is all you strive for, and typically what you get. Yes, things might pop up once in a while, but your experience of life and they way you feel in your body will be very different. You will honor your body as you get older and how good you feel, instead of being resigned to the deterioration typically associated with aging.

I have never liked the term maintenance. And I just realized why recently. We are not trying to maintain once we fix things, we are not keeping them the same. We are on a journey, and that journey is wellness. A journey that goes on for the rest of your life.

Real prevention – true health is created by wellness promotion and the only true health insurance in todays environment. That is why at Wellness Architecture I have cultivated an environment that supports wellness on all levels. Our results are measured by how good you feel. And not just in the moment. But for a lifetime.

We work on influencing your epigenetics and the trickle down effect that has on your overall health.

We address your

  • environment
  • food
  • lab results
  • supplementation
  • movement
  • technologies that mimic our connection to the earth
  • and other healthy habits

We do this in a nurturing environment where our relationship with you matters. We remove the fear from health and transform that into excitement. We show you what actions to take and when to take them. We work with a smaller number of people so we can give you more focused and regular attention. I don’t think of Wellness Architecture as a doctor’s office. For me it is a place that I get to help people thrive and have interesting conversations with people I enjoy spending time with – I look forward to learning from my clients and teaching them what I already know. And for the people I work with, it is a continual education, exploration and journey of getting to know their body better and better. Fine tuning what wellness is for them so that they can get the most out of life.
