Movement is dancing, walking, cleaning your house, gardening, rock climbing, running, etc. Movement is anything that makes you move your body!
Only more recently has the need for "exercise" arisen. Before the advent of technology, cars, trains and other locomotives, moving your body was an expected and regular part of life. Today, we can get away with very little exertion. We have cars, garage door openers, remote controls, elevators, escalators, dishwashers, washing machines, speed dial...it can be difficult NOT to be sedentary. Now we have to make extra efforts to move our bodies, like going to the gym or swimming laps...and this is what we call exercise.
Movement, or exercise, has more benefits than any single known pill. Because of these benefits, a lack of movement, or exercise can also lead to a number of problems. Among them are illness, weight gain, heart disease, poor sleep, depressed mood, low energy and low self esteem.
